Do you ever have a week where (by amazing conincidence) you keep seeing or hearing the same thing over and over? I'm not talking about a popular news or current affairs story but something more mundane. Something that you could have seen or heard at any time in the past or future but for some divine reason, you encountered it multiple times in a short timeframe. Is there a word for this?
Anyway, last week I came across the phrase "Websites that work with Google" no less than five times in totally unrelated circumstances - and I must say by the fifth time I began to get a little freaked out!
The first was from a guy that rang me up to ask if I made websites that work with Google.
The second was from a friend who asked me the same thing on the same day.
The third time I was doing a Google search and came across a website design company that had this phrase as their tagline.
The fourth time I was watching an video on the Internet and one of the guy's talking said it.
And the fifth time, I received a spam email from India asking if my website worked with Google and if not they would fix it.
Now, one could argue that because I work in the web design and Internet marketing industry, there's more chance of me happening upon this phrase than most people. It could also be that after the first couple of times I heard it, my brain was tuned in to it and subconciously I was looking out for it.
It could even be the case that this is a popular phrase that has suddenly become a buzzword and, as usual, I've been left behind :)
Nevertheless, after coming across the phrase so many times in such a short space of time it makes me feel that maybe it was more than conincidence.
